    1. Holy shit this is a big move. More direct dealings for GKids, more NA releases for Toho movies, and a nice small bonus of Awards seasons clout from GKids. That last one isn’t the biggest deal, but “Academy Award Winner” is always nice to have.

I view acquisitions as bad by default, but this could have some upsides like more movies being released in more theaters. I have the same apprehensions with this like I do with Sony buying Alamo Drafthouse and the release of non-Sony movies, which is the release of non-Toho movies.

    3. Really have no idea how to feel about this until we actually see how it unfolds, but curious what this means for GKIDS when it comes to their international animation releases outside of Japan. Maybe the company will be able to handle more releases in general post-acquisition if their staff grows(?), but I’ll be so bummed if their priorities are solely focused on Toho productions/anime in general vs the more robust slate they typical offer.

    4. Do any people here know what this means? Will they now release anime movies sooner in the U.S?

    5. Love them and their published movies, their wiki page is the best way to find underrated anime movies that I’ve found.
