    1. Week 2 of Fall and the gap between **Dandadan** at the top and **Re:Zero** is already closing with the former losing more than twice the amount of karma to last week.

Very happy to see **Look Back** in the top 15. It was a fantastic experience and I urge everyone to check it out if they get the chance.

    2. Orb definitely needs more pondering. Those are pretty good numbers, but they should be way higher for the potential best new anime of the season. And I’m saying that very much enjoying Dandadan, Blue Box and Mecha-Ude (the latter needs more viewers as well). The third episode of Orb blew my mind.

    3. As expected, [**Dandadan**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1g0m8i3/comment/lrafwup/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and [**Re:Zero S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fzsvls/comment/lr3ngj2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) took the top two spots. And while **Dandadan** is still on top, its latest episode lost significantly more karma than **Re:Zero S3**, with its lead this week being less than 700 karma, a much smaller difference than last week when it was ahead by over 2,000 karma. I’m looking forward to seeing if there will be any changes next week.

A fully deserved 3rd place for [**Oshi no Ko S2**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fxe114/comment/lqlvks3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), which had a perfect finale, gaining even more karma than the premiere episode, thus achieving its best result of the season. I’m glad that we already got an announcement for another season.

I’m glad that even with a messed up schedule, **Blue Box** [**Episode 3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1g0lo51/comment/lraryvg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and [**Episode 2**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fwjtvu/comment/lqgpzut/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) landed on the left side of the rankings, coming in 7th and 13th respectively.

Among the new series that premiered this week, I would like to highlight [**The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fzrjx2/comment/lr3ezo6/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [**Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fy95ab/comment/lqsfj5i/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), and [**Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc.**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fw22dn/comment/lqf9zdq/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) as I had a great time watching the premiere episodes of these series, I hope more people check them out.

Please go watch **Orb: On the Movements of the Earth**. Only 3 episodes in, and the storytelling has been incredible.

The show has a really unique premise for an anime too; it’s focused on medieval astronomy and is about a brilliant young boy who has to struggle against the church to prove that the Earth revolves around the Sun. The manga is critically acclaimed has won multiple awards; while the anime is being adapted by Madhouse, which most recently did Frieren. Also has a stellar soundtrack by Kensuke Ushio (who is also doing Dandadan’s OST), and beautiful OP + EDs by Sakanaction and Yorushika.

Highly recommend that you just go into the show blind to avoid spoilers.

    5. While Dandadan is ahead of Karma compared to Re:Zero, its comment engagement seems low, almost 750 comments behind, I wonder what could be the reason for it?

    6. Shimmering-Sky on

Okay, now that Sengoku Youko aired an episode this week, I can be sad it didn’t make the chart this time. It was all the way down in the 40s this week… [](#shatteredsaten) And no Mecha-Ude this time either, damn.

I do hope Orb continues to make this chart though, the episode yesterday was *insane* and I’d hate for that show to become this season’s Yatagarasu where it barely makes the chart even though people talk about it a lot on here.

    7. Wow, I was not expecting Blue Box to lose ~half it’s karma. I don’t have Netflix at the moment so I’m not watching it, but it’s one of the shows I was looking forward to once I resubscribe.

I’d say the most glaring omission from the chart is [Mecha-Ude](https://myanimelist.net/anime/53033/Mecha-ude_TV). It looks great and it’s really funny, what more could you want?

Usually when a demon lord/hero is reincarnated, the world has degenerated making the already overpowered protagonist even stronger by comparison. In [Demon Lord 2099](https://myanimelist.net/anime/54853/Maou_2099) the world has progressed immensely while he was away, and so the proud protagonist must cope with having become below average. Judging from the first episode the series seems to have a serious, dramatic tone which pairs well with the cyberpunk aesthetic. I went into this one with low expectations and was very impressed, but the first episode was largely setup and it remains to be seen if the average episode will live up to it.

    8. Given that BLUE BOX will have an effectively advanced episode discussion thread compared to the international release, I wonder how this will affect its karma as we go through the season.

Anyway, DANDADAN still at number 1, but the first spot could be a toss-up between this series and Re:Zero S3.

Also, to those who want a romance between awkward adults, **365 Days to the Wedding** might be the anime for you!

    9. Illustrious-Fox5135 on

**Orb: On the Movements of the Earth**

Wow. Just wow man. Only 3 episodes in and this show is showing insane potential. Already an AOTS contender for sure. The last episode did something that will blow anyone’s mind away (not kidding).

I would also like to thank manga readers for not spoiling anything. I know it’s not a super popular manga or anything but thanks anyways. Eagerly waiting for the next big thing the show has in ride for us.

    10. **How I Attended an All-Guy’s Mixer** didn’t make this karma chart, but people should totally give it a chance! Some of you might wonder [what’s the deal with this sausage fest](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/w7w6cd3dd5y.png) and reason that you’re not into BL and the likes.

But what if I told you that they’re actually [a bunch of pretty crossdressing women](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/myd5c68b534.png), which like to do a whole lot of teasing. Would you [get flustered by this total chad](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/l7lxc85mez7.png) of a lady?

Who knows. Maybe you’re more similar to Kirishima from **Yakuza Fiancé** than you think? That anime was just as much of a nice surprise! Yoshino has messed me up quite badly. I’m already loving her character, and [she’s great in the ED](https://v.animethemes.moe/RaiseTanin-ED1.webm) too!

    11. Orb: On the Movements of the Earth through its first 3 episodes is really setting the tone as my top show of the season so far. While it does not have the action & production values of Dandadan 0r Bleach. The overall package of voice acting, direction, writing and twists are so good. It has the potential to reach the level of Freiren, Apothecary, Meshi, Monogatari & Yatagarasu.

One thing with shows it is about how you show it at sometimes. The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor, has a much weirder premise then I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History. Yet somehow I found the latter more off-putting because it really goes the extra mileage even though the characters are still not yet the ages that have been shown in the key visuals. Just how they presented the kiss in episode 2 was enough for me to drop the show. The former is one I am watching with caution as the age gap is between a 10-year-old & 19-year-old. At the same time, with their being much better world building that it gives me a little hope. Still, this is one show where one episode can put it on the drop list.

Also, I have seen reports that Monogatari will wrap up this current arc next week. Now I know there is more to Monster & Off Season Novels, so makes me wonder if we get an announcement of some kind. I just want to experience more from this brilliant series. I am totally gonna look for any excuse to rewatch it.

    12. Guess Dandadan and ReZero will be the big battle of the season

Uzumaki unsurprisingly falling. Even as someone who doesn’t pay too much heed to a show’s animation, the drop in quality was jarring. Wonder if Blue Lock’s gonna fall too based on Ep 2’s quality.

As usual, I’ll be using these rankings to scope out certain shows that wasn’t on my radar. Maybe I’ll give two or three more weeks before deciding on anything but Orb does catch my eye right now.

Also, immaculate taste having babygirl Hina in the Blue Box thumbnail.

    13. The Karma dropped a little from last week, mostly due to Dandadan and Re:Zero losing their premier boosts, but we still managed to get our 3rd highest Karma total since the [shutdown](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Reddit_API_controversy?useskin=vector#Subreddit_blackout).

      |Rank|Season|Week|Karma|>10000|> 6000|> 5000|> 3000|> 2000|> 1000|
      –:|:–|–:|–:|–:|–:|–:|–:|–:|–:|
      |1|Fall 2023|6|39614|1|3|3|3|7|10|
      |2|Fall 2024|1|35248|0|2|2|3|5|11|
      |**3**|**Fall 2024**|**2**|**31672**|**0**|**1**|**2**|**3**|**4**|**12**|
      |4|Winter 2024|13|31577|1|1|1|2|4|9|
      |5|Fall 2023|1|31488|0|0|1|6|6|10|

Also, we had a good amount of depth this week as well with 12 episodes over 1000 Karma.

    14. Blue Box is still doing pretty well, outside of Ranma I don’t see anything else that might be close competition. I’ve enjoyed the show more and more with each episode, and both Hina and Chinatsu are great. I’m also a big fan of shows where the leads support each other in their personal goals, instead of everything being about romance and liking each other.

    15. Damn, is it just me, or has karma been low for a while? I remember back in the day it reaching 10k+ in karma, now it’s struggling to reach even 6k for a returning popular series, IE, Re:Zero, or 7k for a new popular adaptation, IE, Dandadan.

    16. Hopefully Danmachi rises. This should be a very strong arc for the series as long as they don’t mess up the adaptation.

    17. ScreenWriterGuy07 on

It’s interesting to note that, while DanDaDan still best Re:Zero in terms of karma during week 2, Re:Zero’s discussion thread had nearly twice the number of comments.
And on that note, DanDaDan also saw a much bigger drop compared to the premiere than Re:Zero, around 30% vs 15%

Honestly, as an anime-only for both, I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come. Infact I’ve been eating so good this fall season. While summer was a little bit more tailored towards me, fall has been delivering very nicely till now.

Other than the two mentioned above, I’ve also been enjoying a couple more shows, and spearheading them is:

      • Orb: On the Movements of the Earth.

Holy shit this one is soooooo amazing. I’m actually super glad that this show actually made into the top 15 because it has been an absolute treat so far. It’s very rare for me to fall in love with a show *this* fast.

It’s fairly unique for an anime in terms of settings, themes and general atmosphere. At first, I did like it just because of these things and the promise it showed. But the 3rd episode that came out yesterday left me so speechless that I still can’t find my jaw. In just these episodes it delivered the story’s themes in such a concise and powerful way through all of its characters, especially our MC. Not to mention the good cinematography, banger soundtrack from the one and only Kensuke Ushio and the OP+ED combo just accentuate my love for this show.

Re:Zero is my favourite show of *all* time (I know, newbie) but somehow I see Orb as a worthy AOTS contender, insane. Yes, I absolutely recommend you to go see the show. It’s very good right now, but if I’m to believe the words of the source readers, this 25 episode show (full adaptation btw) will quickly turn into a masterpiece.

    18. GoombaraxYoshi on

God Bless Tino with those thick thighs! That’s enough to make up for Miu from **Goodbye, Dragon Life** not in the Chart.

Okay after 3 episodes, **Orb: On the Movements of the Earth** definitely mindblew me with its lore, characters, and especially the 3rd episode… Masterpiece! Gotta give it a watch, to those who haven’t already

Now **Tower of God** on the right side, it’s going to be pretty rough for this 2nd Cour.

The Top 2 will have a pretty tough battle for a long while.

I gotta wait for a few weeks before I’ll be watching **Look Back**, it looks incredible.

Overall, that’s 4/8 J.C.Staff anime in this chart. I’m curious about how it’ll be next week, with SLF coming back.

    19. Charming-Loquat3702 on

I know reddit karma is ultimately useless, but I’m kind of pissed that blue box is doomed by Netflix japan releasing their episodes one week early.

    20. Honestly, **Orb the movement of Earth** should be WAY higher. Same goes for **Natsume’s book of friends** and
      **Yakuza fiancé** !

      Happy for **Blue Lock**, **Ranma**,
**I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History**,
**Dandadan** and **365 days to wedding**.

I’m watching and Enjoying **How I Attended an All-Guy’s Mixer** ,**Youkai Gakkou no Sensei Hajimemashita**, ** Ron Kamonohashi’s forbidden deductions season 2**, **Haigakura** and **Nina the starry bride**. Would love to see them in the top 30 at least once 😅

I liked the first episode of **Houkago shounen Hanako-kun season 2**. And **Murai in Love** is still nice to me (talking about the story. The animation isn’t good unfortunately 😭)

    21. **Blue Box** would be higher if it weren’t for the way it’s being released. I wish the mods could do something with the threads at least.

    22. Never heard of Dandadan. Are the first two episodes really of higher quality compared to the first two for Re:Zero S3?

Imo those two Re:Zero episodes alone are some of the best and most entrateining early episodes i’ve ever seen. I’d like to know if Dandadan’s big karma is mostly tied to quality like Re:Zero or just to popularity.

    23. **Orb** honestly is my favorite of the season and contender for AOTY if fully adapted. Cannot remember the last time captivated by anime series, not by sakuga or animation, just by pure good writing and fantastic voice acting since mushishi & monster

    24. This season is on fire, I have a lot on my list

      – Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Soukoku-tan
      – Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka V: Houjou no Megami-hen
