“War is too much for children! Now look away kid while I blow myself up and totally not traumatize you”

“War is truly hell.” Understatement of the century, u/[BufalloCrapSmeller](/user/BufalloCrapSmeller/).

In praise of the *Gundam* franchise: It sincerely is the epitome of “The entire infrastructure of the world is the problem yet you, the audience, still root for the false duality of good and bad.” The exploration of the cycle of war, death and how innocent civilians are perpetually victims and fodder when elements such as nationalism, politics, and xenophobia combine with the military–industrial complex; altogether resulting in the story we see presented to us.

For added context: The mc is just 13 years old making him the youngest Gundam pilot in the series up to that point.

    4. Burns: Well, everybody knows, ‘war is Hell.’

Hunnicutt: Remember, you heard it hear last.

Hawkeye: War isn’t Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.

Father Mulcahy: How do you figure that, Hawkeye?

Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?

Father Mulcahy: Um, sinners, I believe.

Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell, but war is chock full of them – little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for a few of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.
