    1. Ah yes, my favourite Isekai this season.

*”I wish I died and reincarnated running away from debt collectors. Instead I catch fish.”*

    2. Calling NegaPosi Angler weird really just feels like the tip of the iceberg. Its earnest attempts at a rather insane but dull downward spiral set the tone for a series that can only ever feel off kilter- but it works great. How many other series can you think about that share that same personality after all?

For the other pieces of the series, I’ll admit I was a *little* concerned about some of the CGI and animation quality from the trailers. The second was a very noticeable improvement on the first, and keeping with that trend the first episode gets even better than that. Sasaki’s drowning sequence was damn good for what it was, the chase sequences were fun and had surprisingly long cuts, and there’s a definite commitment to the use of CGI aside from filling in the bald spots of the production.

All in all, it’s a nice bit more than I was expecting out of Nut for this series. After some of their struggles with Bullbuster I wasn’t betting too much on NegaPosi Angler coming out as something that had much opportunity to shine, but the first episode’s proven me wrong, and I hope the subsequent ones will too.

Oh also, more Fairouz Ai, which I’ll never say no to.

EDIT: There’s honestly… quite a bit more to NegaPosi Angler than I expected. The story’s as good as I expected, but the visual work is well past what I assumed we’d get. Kei Ichikura doesn’t have the most stellar track record, but here it really seems like they’re giving a *Deca-Dence* level performance for art direction. Also, really interesting to see the series director and character designer team up for the storyboard of the first episode. There’s lots of interesting pieces like that in this episode really, [which I’ve separated out into its own post here](https://animehouse.moe/blog/anime/negaposi-angler-episode-1-rocky-bottom/).

    3. Tried first ep but i think i wont follow It. It was weird and not on a good way. Also i think fishing is boring and this show didnt make It enjoyable. Good luck for whoever stays for Next episodes

    4. WOW. This was beautiful on every level. The art is fantastic and really helps ground you in the world, and putting the protagonist at the most rock-bottom anyone can be–suicidal, terminally ill, hunted by debt collectors, and losing everything, with fishing as the only light in his life, REALLY gets you pumped about fishing. This was an absolute treat and the best thing so far this season. I love original anime!!

    5. ObvsThrowaway5120 on

This wasn’t half bad, actually. In fact I quite liked this so far. But man, Hiro sure has some terrible luck. 2 years to live, mounting debts, and zero prospects. Hey, at least he got to fish with Hana and the gang. And he got that mackerel.

    6. Nice start for an original anime.

The Loan sharks were actually kinda funny. They even followed him with a boat.

    7. Bro’s got their priorities straight, saved a drowning guys life… Anyway back to fishing! Half of them didn’t even check he was okay 🤣

Loving the loan sharks.. Kinda seems appropriate to be getting chased by sharks in a fishing show. Also these guys are hilariously likable, and extremely determined. I wonder if they’ll be chasing all season, it did provide a nice bit of humor.

Well I’m curious to see how this show pans out, seems like they care about realistic fishing content from what I can see at the start. Except the part where they caught fish… that wasn’t realistic at all, typical anime bs.. lol
