Roy backing himself into a corner and subsequently losing while giving Fuecoco a credible win.
Ryme being aware of Roy’s goal from the last time they met as well as references to previous events all around. 61 episodes and still all well connected, Horizons’ writing is in a league of its own.
The main characters passing the test all the time was beginning to become a problem so naturally Horizons addressed it before it got to that point, something it does very well.
It’s nice to see Roy lose, though until the end of the episode he was for some reason treated like he was actually a strong trainer, which runs counter to the series so far. I’m not sure that win against Houndstone is very credible, but oh well. I suppose he’ll finally evolve Fuecoco soon so that’s something since it’s my least favorite Pokemon in its line (and the ugliest gen 9 starter).
