Hi, sorry for the bad camera/photo.

I’ve been forcing myself to learn how to draw in anime for a few days now, and I’ve found some general facial math to help with it.

    My problem is-

Aside from the drawing itself finally looking human, it looks very bland as a character drawing. Even though I’m aware it was just a test drawing.

I believe the eyes although asymmetrical, do look normal even though they don’t look exactly the same-
But they look bland, simple and don’t convey much visual expression (disregarding their non-emotional state). And I’ve generally noticed for female characters, the eyes have a much larger curve than you would think. I tried to implement that but although better, they still look bland.
I’ve noticed that characters in anime have large eyes, defined eye lashes or eyeliner (I wouldn’t know the terms), and have eye-curves around the edge of the eyes while the part towards the nose isn’t paid much attention to.

I’m not sure of the process regarding the eyebrows but I know they’re important, as without eyebrows you wouldn’t be able to recognize a person. Therefore they are a key to facial features or beauty and yet I don’t understand them.

I’d greatly appreciate artists who have some experience with manga/manwha drawing to help with this (mainly explanations of the eyes or how to make my characters look more interesting/attractive) – general help with understanding facial math, explanations or examples of their own drawing techniques would help much as well.

And for anyone else casually reading this, I hope whatever you find in this search helpful!

tbh there are no rules to make anime faces look pretty cool, only practice makes it perfect! what about advices: you should find anime artists you like and research their style, it will help you to understand how to make smth like that but in your own style! so keep on work!
