Did you know 鹿の子 (shika + no + ko), (i.e. deer + possession particle + child), is actually pronounced kanoko?

kanoko can mean fawn but I don’t think it’s used that way today. Dictionary’s first definition is a type of patterned cloth. Look it up on google images I don’t know how to explain the pattern.

The anime spells it out in hiragana しかのこのこのここしたんたん though

      Edit:

鹿 is also used in the word baka (馬鹿) (horse + deer)
