Mappa kills a movie we thought they were working on but resurrects another one which we though was cancelled (did they ever anounce the studio before?).
I did not have this on my 2024 bingo

Lady Oscar…. I based my history exams on the anime series because I was too lazy to actually study, I passed, but my teacher asked who this Oscar was. Haha

It’s a shame that the 1979 anime will basically be treated as obsolete by a lot of people as a result of this movie when it’s one of the greatest anime ever created. I mean, by virtue of being from 1979 most people already won’t touch it, but it’ll just get worse going forward.

I’m curious about the plan for this film, is it going to be the start of a long-term project or will it be just a one-off? I’m not familiar with the manga so I don’t know if they can, for example, adapt one arc in the film and stop there with a satisfying conclusion or something.
Hopefully, someone with more knowledge of the franchise can elaborate on this from what’s been shown in the PV. They could also be using the film to test the waters and see if there’s interest for a potential full remake I guess.
