    1. They’re going to have to gaslight more people than they thought, including Takuya’s “Extended family”. All of this while trying to get around the supposed blackmail.

Takuya felt better the moment he put the ring on. Probably a brief moment of superiority over the singles. It didn’t last very long when Gonda gave him all of the stress.

    2. ObvsThrowaway5120 on

As if the threatening call wasn’t bad enough, those two had a close call with Gonda and the others showing up AND Ohara’s dad appearing out of the blue. Keeping this fake marriage going sure is hard once family is involved!

    3. Bonding over how in-depth playing the role of a tree is already proof these 2 dorks are the perfect match.

    4. KumaKumaGambler on

Oohara and Honjoji may be apathetic towards marriage right now, but I am sure as the season progresses, by being together, they will start shining brighter, just like how it is portrayed in the ending theme sequence!

Cats are the true owners, while humans are actually the pets, as shown by Kama. 😀

Time for us to guess who is the mysterious caller out of all the available colleagues at the travel agency…

    5. Wearing a wedding ring, even for a fake marriage, takes a lot of effort because there’s so much meaning behind it. When Ohara finally wears it, he feels so so much strength and husband energy!

Honjoji feels most comfortable when she’s seeing the sights and reading map than dealing with people and a fake marriage l. But at least she’s happy! But who is “Ritsu” and why does Honjoji need breathing exercises to text them and would rather they leave her alone?

The OP is a really fun and cheery theme from Honeyworks! Featuring our main couple, their co-workers, friends, and families as they travel from fake marriage to a real marriage down the aisle! Complete with wedding outfits from different cultures!

Uh oh! Someone at the office suspects their fake marriage and wants to send them to Alaska!? Didn’t expect some genuine drama! But who could it be?

When you’re the prospective new couple of the office, people just seem to gravitate towards you! They might even make a drinking party out of it! Which two introverts who hate dealing with people absolutely LOVE!

No better excuse for Honjoji to visit Ohara’s apartment than to transform it into their love nest, complete with pillows, mugs, toothbrushes, Honjoji in an apron, and a fake couple selfie brought together by their mutual acting experience playing a tree in culture festival!

Gonda seems like a decent guy just looking for love. I don’t know if he has any chance with Komiya, but I wish him success all the same.

What is marriage anyways? Is it really the be all and end all? Is it a true source of happiness? Ohara and Honjoji are already happy by themselves and with their individual interests…but they also seem charmed by each other in the process. I don’t think they’re just getting worked up over nothing, especially with the domestic vibe they have already.

The two things Honjoji never wants to deal with…customers and her fake fiancé’s father!

It’s nice of Honjoji to clear things up with Takuya’s father but she never realized how deep the idea of marrying someone, and marrying into another person’s family would go. I mean, a wedding with 200 people? A party and dancing? She can’t do that!

I do love how she noticed both Ohara’s have a similar slouch.

The ED is really cute and stylized! Compete with Seeing the sights with Honjoji and Ohara joining her! And they look so in love!

      351 Days to the wedding!

    6. Just to address the premise a bit, I was at the Imperial War Museum in the UK yesterday and one tidbit I saw was in the days immediately preceding WWI breaking out, a lot of men “suddenly” got married so they wouldn’t be drafted. So this really is a tried-and-true method to avoid being sent where people don’t want to go.

He can’t quite think of what to say.

      Uh oh, that’s inconvenient.

Hmm… That’s going to be inconvenient too.

      So that’s their plan.

      Singapore mentioned! 🇸🇬🇸🇬🇸🇬

Speak of the devil, here he is.

      And he brought friends.

Huh. That’s going to be a hard question for him.

      She _really_ likes maps.

      Is this the guy’s dad?

      Yup.

      Well this will be complicated.

Ok, ok, it is office romance anime how dense it could be…

Actually quite dense. It was fun. And they actually bonding with all the preparations.

    8. It’s already difficult enough for Takuya and Rika to keep up appearances as an engaged couple, now they have to deal [with a mysterious caller](https://i.imgur.com/bLcMrK6.jpeg) who knows the truth and wants to expose their big lie [and send them both to Alaska!](https://i.imgur.com/0knzOKK.jpeg)

[Gonda definitely seemed suspicious at first](https://i.imgur.com/OzkvTf9.jpeg) for approaching Takuya out of nowhere but it looks like [the poor guy just wanted some dating advice.](https://i.imgur.com/2DrqUCO.jpeg) It’s a bit hilarious considering [how much effort Takuya and Rika put into making it seem like they live together.](https://i.imgur.com/zxj4xXF.jpeg)

At least it looks like Takuya and Rika are starting to become closer for a bit [with Rika opening up a little bit about her hobbies.](https://i.imgur.com/WYMATmg.png)

As if the mystery caller dilemma wasn’t bad enough, [we now have Takuya’s father visiting the office](https://i.imgur.com/u4sw1j4.jpeg) after hearing that his son is getting married soon. And considering [how much preparation the Ohara family needs to make](https://i.imgur.com/vYZFl4Y.jpeg) for a wedding, it looks like our couple just bit off more than they can chew. Oh boy.

    9. If his dad is like this, then what must the rest of the family be like waiting back home.

Dude should have stuck to his original plan and quit, then find a new job.

    10. Already loving the vibe of these two. Feel like I can relate to both of them though they are slightly more severe. I remember Ohara saying he needs a few seconds to reply to people and I feel like I immediately understood him. Honjoji also does it to the extreme but I also love planning out my routes on a map then walking around to random places.

Personally I don’t really like the idea, but when you get married it really does involve a lot of people. I would prefer a small wedding but you could hurt certain people or relatives by not inviting them and that’s just a whole can of worms I would not want to open.

These two are introverts at the extreme end. Relationships and connections with people are exhausting to them and something like marriage is probably something out of this world for them. But I think through each other they’ll learn what it means. It does feel like this show is going more into what it means to be married to someone

      Also, Singapore mentioned !

    11. MusubiKazesaru on

These two are really awful at faking. I wonder how long this can even last without them going legit. That “traditional” style of wedding sounds like a big pain in the ass.

    12. Why are they getting dramatic anonymous phonecalls over a work “promotion”?! ;_; lmao. These two are such dorks though, I already love them together.

    13. I felt that panic. I’m not as introverted as these two, but the idea of a wedding like that sounds like torture. I’m good with a trip to city hall. Reqlly wondering how they’re going to get out of that.

A mysterious villainess was not something I expected from this show.

    14. I like how they are exploring the idea of marriage itself in the episode. With how Takuya discussed why it is a really big deal. Of course they are in a fake marriage, and hence they can’t still see the gravity of the situation they are going in.

I wish that the question of marriage, which is not usually brought in a lot anime, is more talked about in this series, not just in this episode but in the future episodes to come. The idea of marrying someone is not that brought upon in anime, especially the fact that most romance anime are set in high school.

Given how smooth and compatible Takuya and Rikka seems to be, that false marriage could bring something genuine. Let’s see how their romance will progress through time.

There is a saying that when you marry someone, you are also marrying the family of your partner. Given that Aso is in a province, I can see that marriage should be a big social event. That effectively answers Takuya’s concern on what’s the big deal. It IS really a big deal especially for the family.

Finally, it’s just sad that the schedule of this series is alongside two of the biggest hitters this season, hence it is quite underwatched. Had it been scheduled on a different day I’m sure more people will watch this cute yet serious series.
