    1. Week 1 of Fall and big karma is back!

To my surprise **Dandadan** managed to beat **Re:Zero**, casually getting the 3rd highest score since the blackout, the highest debut since then and 4th highest debut of all time. A very strong karma start fitting the excellent adaptation.

Goodbye to 3rd placed **Makeine** which finished with its highest score of the season, breaking 3k for the first time.

And happy to see **The Fable** here for its finale. Really hope that show will be back, ideally with a serious anime studio.

It will be interesting to see how the karma will shape up for the Fall season both between the top 2 and in the battle for 3rd (especially with **Blue Box**’s Netflix woes).

    2. As expected, [**Re:Zero S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fug72b/comment/lpz3v5l/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and [**Dandadan**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fvbbz3/comment/lq5qbzc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) took the top two places in the ranking. Although I didn’t expect **Dandadan** to take first place and by a quite large margin!

Both series had excellent first episodes, but [Dandadan was certainly more “accessible” with its shorter and more action-oriented episode](https://imgchest.com/p/wl7lr5x267x), while Re:Zero S3 received a long, 90-minute episode that was a fairly ‘peaceful’ set-up for the new arc. I can’t wait to see which show takes the top spot in the coming weeks as we get more action-packed Re:Zero episodes full of death and suffering for [Subaru](https://imgchest.com/p/a846kombvyx).

[**Makeine**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1friwnp/comment/lpg09ev/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) finished on high 3rd place, unfortunately without announcing the next season. I expect the final episode of **Oshi no Ko S2** (which aired today) to take the same spot next week.

I’m happy with the high 5th place for [**Blue Box**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fvamay/comment/lq5wis6/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). Glad we finally got to see [Chinatsu](https://imgchest.com/p/ljyqz59nxy2), [Taiki](https://imgchest.com/p/9249glzo87n) and [Hina](https://imgchest.com/p/a846k6av2yx) in the anime! [It had a great first episode](https://imgchest.com/p/bp45z6xav45) and [its OP was really beautiful](https://imgchest.com/p/dl7p95jxj4o) (IMO it has the best visuals along with [Dandadan’s OP](https://imgchest.com/p/5xy23owbn4l)). It’s a shame though that the release schedule is kinda a mess and discussion for the second episode is already up.

This week I said goodbye to [**That Time I got Reincarnated As a Slime S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fqpvay/comment/lp71bun/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and [**Wistoria: Wand and Sword**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1frzu5w/comment/lph0ibj/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) which I really enjoyed last season. I’m glad that both have already announced upcoming seasons.

Other new shows that came out last week that I watched:

      * [**I’ll Become a Villainess That Will Go Down in History**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1ftqaz9/comment/lpu46cp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) (if you are a fan villainess stories like me, you sure gotta love this one. [Alicia is a really fun MC](https://imgchest.com/p/6eyr8nlkk7p)!)
      * [**Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1ftqazl/comment/lpvj98r/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) (I’m going to have a hard time deciding which of the [Amagami sisters](https://imgchest.com/p/bp45zombx45) is the best, since [Yuna](https://imgchest.com/p/a846ko3ngyx), [Asahi](https://imgchest.com/p/6eyr8nakk7p), and [Yae](https://imgchest.com/p/n87wgn9534x) are all great in their own way)
      * **365 Days to the Wedding** (it seems that Cool-chan from Pseudo Harem is the main female character here xD)
      * [**Negative Positive Angler**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fv78uu/comment/lq5g525/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) (I’m watching this for [Hana and her extra fluffy hair](https://imgchest.com/p/pg73wom5z4r))
      * [**Reincarnated Aristocrat S2**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fs6etw/comment/lpiqnpc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [**Let This Grieving Soul Retire**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fs736q/comment/lpjf38w/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [**The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1fsxq61/comment/lpp6emr/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) (there’s nothing special about them to write home about, but they’re very enjoyable to watch)

    3. That Danmachi ED, whew.

      [](#towel)

I’m not sure what the Goddess of Fertility Arc is about but I have a feeling in the past week, guys around the world tried to test to see if a bunch of sheets/walls/tissues/shoeboxes were fertile because of it.

    4. Genshin_WhiteKnight on

Holy balls, almost 9k karma for **Dandadan** is just nuts.

A bunch of new shows had really good premieres this week. **Orb: On the Movements of the Earth** in particular, will probably be the dark horse of the season. Will be interesting to see how the karma chart looks in the coming weeks.

    5. Abysswatcherbel on

[Web page for the chart](https://abysswatcherbel.github.io/), for the extra zoom capabilities and for people to test their own pictures, just go into inspect mode on your browser and change the background-image

For people that were already doing this, the size of the right banners increased a little for this season, for reasons…

      [](#seasonalneat)

    6. It’s nice to see Dungeon People make the chart one last time.

The season started slow and I got used to not having much to watch, and then like 10 series started on the same day.

[Uzumaki](https://myanimelist.net/anime/40333/Uzumaki) will only have 4 episodes so it doesn’t take a major commitment to watch it and it’s super high quality. Definitely a must-watch for the season.

When I watch a romcom it’s generally for the com rather than the rom and [365 Days to the Wedding](https://myanimelist.net/anime/55887/Kekkon_suru_tte_Hontou_desu_ka) is funny enough to keep me watching. It’s also a rare instance of introvert x introvert romance, the protagonists are working adults, and Hayamin voices the female lead, so it should appeal to many here.

[Mecha-Ude](https://myanimelist.net/anime/53033/Mecha-ude_TV) is an action series with good comedy and Sugita as deuteragonist. I saw someone in the discussion thread describe it as “sakuga x Sawano.” I doubt the plot will be all that deep, but it seems well made and fun.

[Mushroom Pup](https://myanimelist.net/anime/58854/Kinoko_Inu) is a heartwarming series, and you can’t heal a heart that isn’t hurting. Despite the cute package, first episode is a big bundle of depression.

[Let This Grieving Soul Retire](https://myanimelist.net/anime/58172/Nageki_no_Bourei_wa_Intai_shitai) is one of those stories where everyone incorrectly thinks the weak protagonist is strong and things never go according to his plans but result in greater glory. The idea’s been done better, but it’s not super common in anime and the show seems like it will be decent.

    7. I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode of **Blue Box**. It seems like a romance story that’s right up my alley with a stellar production and likeable cast. The show might’ve been overshadowed *a little* by Dandadan’s airing on the same day, but it was still doing relatively well!

That’s why this whole ordeal with the discussion threads frustrates me so greatly. People were so adamant in their claims that r/anime overwhelmingly pirates anime as to imply that the present situation was the best solution for the most people. But then why isn’t this reflected in the engagement of discussion thread for the yet-to-be-released second episode?

Those engagement numbers have massively tanked on all fronts. Remove the complaints, and it doesn’t even have a quarter of the first episode’s comments. It’s therefore safe to assume that a majority of people *actually* like to wait for the official release of Blue Box if given the option.

In other words: to facilitate pre-release discussions for what in fact appears to be a minority of users, any chance of building a solid community/fanbase for Blue Box in r/anime is being squandered with the current rules. Would *anyone* be happy with that outcome?

Blue Box’s situation is similar to Komi Can’t Communicate’s and might therefore as well follow the same fate if nothing changes: rarely remembered if ever recommended. I’d rather not see this happening.

    8. Damn, Slime crossing just 1000 in its season finale is embarrassing. The downfall needs to be studied. I don’t understand why or how they managed to botch the adaptation of the highest selling isekai light novel series.

    9. Illustrious-Fox5135 on

      **DANDADAN DANDADAN DANDADAN**

      What an insane start!!!

Almost getting 9K karma and beating out **Re: zero**. It will be interesting to see the results in the upcoming weeks.

**Uzumaki** got an excellent start but unfortunately I can’t say the same for episode 2. Oh well, have to see how the remaining 2 episodes will go.

    10. Welcome back to fun Karma Weeks everyone! Dandadan with a little help from r/all managed to surpass even its biggest source reader’s expectations and got a staggering 8950 Karma which is the 4th highest series debut karma total of all-time.

      |Rank|Anime|Episode|Karma|Season|

      |4|Dandadan|1|8950|Fall 2024|
      |5|God of High School|1|8851|Summer 2020|

But Dandadan wasn’t the only anime with a strong start. Re:Zero, as expected, also did really well with its premier despite having the Karma disadvantage of a [90 minute episode](https://animekarmawatch.com/thread/1fvbbz3?compare_to=1fug72b). It still finished with the 8th highest Karma Total since the shutdown and the 2nd best Season Premier to Dandadan’s.

Those 2 combined with an impressive Makine Finale, strong premiers from Uzumaki, Blue Box and DanMachi and one of My Hero Academia’s best episodes, helped this week get the 2nd highest Karma Total since the shutdown, only losing to [a week with Attack on Titan, Frieren and JJK](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F4yi6v2gv9xzb1.png).

    11. Pretty happy for blue box . Been a fan of manga so I know the show’s gonna be a hit and the animation is beautiful 💫

    12. 15th_anynomous on

I dropped tower of god s2 because it felt like a blemish on the first season. Adobe after effects lookin ass season

    13. Don’t think it’s a stretch to say Dandadan will be dominating this season. It’s got all the ingredients to become the next big phenomenon for sure.

Blue Box another one I’m looking forward to watching this season, first episode was solid and the animation was beautiful.

    14. Atri finished yesterday. While it wasn’t the most popular show on this sub, I adored it and cried a lot during the finale. I will truly miss the characters and their interactions with each other as they were a lot of fun. Atri especially. Those in it for Sci-fi aspect prob will be disappointed, but it mainly uses that to elevate the Romance-Drama part of the series, and it was excellent.

Now with noting the new season.

First seeing Dandadan and Blue getting their anime and I can’t be happy with the adaptations they are getting. Dandadan has slowly been building hype gradually with the anime previews and the early screening where its huge karma is due to that. But god damn episode 1 was phenomenal as a manga reader. It has the making of a special adaptation similar to Frieren & Monogatari level IMO. Blue Box visually is a boost from the manga, and it is quite noticeable comparing the manga to anime. I am curious how it does the sports sections because that is one aspect in the manga that is lacking. The cast is really fun, so I expect it to nail the romance aspect.

Excluding Hyakkano (100 Girlfriends), harem adaptions have been pretty poor as of late since Quints wrapped up adapting the manga. Goddess Café, Temple & Mato Slave adaptations have been poor through the first two anime still are very fun. Tying a Knot with an Amagami Sister has the chance to be the next big harem IMO. It does have a slow start, but thankfully they are giving it 24 episodes at the jump. All the sisters are very endearing in their own way. Uryu is a very solid Mc. The story is unique. (Hard to explain without spoilers, but should be apparent by episode 3)

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth has the making of a very interesting series for those looking for something with more substance. Rafal over the course of the first two episodes is very interesting. The biggest selling point I wonder how he navigates regarding his new goals.

Lastly, I really like the two anime originals that air on Thursdays. Those being Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms & NegaPosi_Angler. Visually, both look sound. The former having a very interesting concept that I am interested in learning more about. While the latter gives me Iyashikei vibes given the latter half of the episode. Which are the type of series I love.

    15. What’s up with Dandadan? I kinda gross over short clip a bit. It looks like a psycho-terror anime with SAW vibe.

And it take first spot with almost 9k what!
