When I was younger I heard that the Library of Congress here in the U.S. “had every book ever published” so I wondered if they had Lucky Star and they don’t. I tried looking it up later in Japan’s national Archives and I don’t think they have it either

    2. I’ve been hearing about them trying to save anime cels for [at least back in 2018](https://japantoday.com/category/features/lifestyle/saving-cels-japan-looks-to-preserve-a-modern-art-form), perhaps even older. Its interesting that they’re still at the stage of “wanting” meanwhile anime cels are still being traded and sold around.

Sometimes you see bits of [anime cel here on r/anime](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1bx7kpp/help_what_anime_is_this_animation_cel_from/) from [users who want help IDing what they have](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1bmrny4/what_anime_are_these/).

    3. If Japan’s attitude about anime preservationis is as bad as it is about video games, this is gonna be a difficult task.
