      Greatest of All Time is a moniker that can feel a bit overused. Generational Run, Kino, Peak, Sakuga- all suffer from the habitual exaggeration of fans. Here though? Absolutely go all out. Dandadan’s first episode is as hoped, a freakishly, impossibly, incredibly good episode.

      Yamashiro Fuuga proving that their time with Masaaki Yuasa and Shingo Natsume was for *this* moment. Kensuke Ushio is showing that his soundtracks are at their greatest with Saru. Science Saru themselves are proving they deserve to sit towards the top of the anime industry for the sheer insanity of their creativity.

      It’s an episode I could watch front to back far too many times in a row. 2D flaslight **animation**? All the camera movement and the incredible 3D environment integration? The absolutely flawless vocal performances from Shion Wakayama (Momo) and Natsuki Hanae (Occult-kun)? All the hilarious bits of character acting and the perspective shots. It’s just full to the absolute brim with Yukinobu Tatsu’s style. 10/10 and left no notes, I can’t wait to see more of how Saru does with Dandadan.

      EDIT: The more I flick through the episode again and again, the more I really am in awe at how Saru treated it. It’s like every little moment has been tailored perfectly to the anime, resulting in hundreds of little changes from the manga.       Like a series that can ask deep philosophical questions like: “Who would win in a fight between ghosts and aliens?”

      Love a series that can promptly answer: “Ghosts, by biting the aliens’ dicks off.”

      Great and literal balls to the wall start oozing so much style and personality, Saru was a great fit for this. That concluding punchline is as funny as it is sweet.

      100% PEAK. for anyone on the fence, this show has charm, beautiful chemistry between all the characters, amazing art and action, humor, dread, depression, everything. it’s the greatest amalgamation of genres into one insane ride of a show/manga.

      Ahh yes, the wildest first episode ever. I remember my WTF reaction reading the first chapter of the manga back in the days. Truly a Dandadan experience.

      So anime onlies how’s your Dandadan experience? And please buckle up cause we are in for the wildest romcom ride ever!

      And Science SARU is showing why they’re one of the GOATED anime studio cause damn the animation went hard.

      I remember when the first chapter came out, and almost everybody’s reaction was “the fuck did I just read?” Great adaptation so far! They matched the vibe perfectly, and the animation is great. Everybody gonna be experiencing peak in animation. Excited for my favorite reactors to watch this series. Shit gonna be funny as hell.

      I’ve been waiting for this since I started reading the manga 2 years ago. I knew it would be difficult to adapt it in a satisfying way, but I’m glad that Science Saru has apparently managed to do so, and in such spectacular fashion!

      This was such a great premiere episode, seeing Momo and Okarun on screen was amazing! And to think that this is just the beginning of their adventures with aliens, ghosts, and other things. For me this will be definitely the show of the season along with Re:Zero S3.

      OP hit hard, both visually and musically, as Creepy Nuts once again created a great song! ED is also great and so fun.

      Praying for full adaptation.

      Praying for Science SARU to see the series thru the end.

      Praying the quality, weirdness, and charm continues throughout the rest of the series.

      Already having seen the 3 ep premiere knowing the care it’s been given, and being caught up on the manga, this would become one of my favorite adaptations of all time.

      I completely forgot how absolutely unhinged the first chapters were. Alien rappers??? What is this? A Tatsuki Fujimoto series??? Oh right, the mangaka was originally an assistant for Fuji motor.

      I was lucky enough to see the premiere in theatres, and I was absolutely blown away. You can really see the passion that the staff at Science Saru put into the production of Dandadan. As a long-time fan of the manga, I’m incredibly excited to see the rest of the adaptation! Seeing 2 of my favorite manga (Dungeon Meshi & Dandadan) receive amazing adaptations in the same year makes me so happy!

      “I’ll let you suckle my teats, so lemme gobble that weenie” lmao someone give granny ghost some water. The ol biddy’s thirsty af! Lol. I can’t believe she stole our boy’s bits though. But man, I’m not sure what’s creepier, the old nob gobbling granny ghost or the “banana” loving ugly bastard aliens.

      Came in as an anime only with no knowledge of this series. Needless to say, I’m sold! Solid OP, animation and art are good and the characters are hilarious. I like the dynamic between the MCs too. They seem like they’re gonna be a real fun pair.

      At AnimeNYC in late August, there was a screening for this episode that I attended. I remember the crowd went wild at the “I’m Ken Takakura” moment at the end, and it’s so good to be able to see that part again!

      Every bit as good as expected. Just the chemistry and animation are enough to keep me watching until the end.

      Probably an unpopular opinion, but I hope they keep the fanservice aspects. It just feels so natural as a part of the entire ridiculous package.

      God watching this is such a treat especially as a Manga reader experiencing it only in black and white until now compared to the insanely well-used colors in the animation give the ambience of how otherworldly the monsters are while also separating how distinct the supernatural and sci-fi elements are.

      What an incredible start to an anime. Holy crap! Going in blind is the best decision I made.

      Also, Wakayama Shion is having a year. Started as Nanahoshi, followed by Lemon and now as an Amagami sister and an esper. Lol
