And so the existence of a two-part re-cap movie series has become the Quality Assurance Certificate of TV anime in the Great Girls Band Era.
Bocchi The Rock has 2 (I have the pleasure to watch the first one in late July with the 2nd planned mid-October here), MyGO has 2 (first one just aired in Japan; note other anime titles of the BanG Dream franchise had no such privilege despite it already having multiple movies), and now GBC has 2 as well.
~~Please come to theatres in my place despite Toei not even released GBC officially here yet.~~
Great news, I’ll use that as cope, as these recaps are clearly meant to bridge the waiting time for season 2.
And even if it’s just for the milking, the extra $$ for Toei might make them do that S2, in case its production hasn’t already been decided internally yet.

I heard that two of the irl band quit due to poor health.
If I had a nickel every time a band anime that was a surprise hit got 2 consecutive recap movies announced shortly after, I’d have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice
This gives me more hope for an S2
