    1. This series looks interesting and it keeps coming up in my feeds, is it a romance or more of a SoL?

    2. Only 2 episodes left…

I Hope we get more of this anime in a future, i need more of this whole sociopaths eating sweets

Edit: so Its only 1 i thought It was 11

    3. We knew Osanai was crazy, but my goodness, she’s actually off the scales. I did love her nonchalant attitude to his stream of questioning as if the questions were small talk.

~~Don’t date crazy~~ Good luck Kobato, this is only Part 1!

    4. 1st episode? So this is a 2-parter?

That’s suddenly looking a lot more worth the price tag. Still nowhere near worth, but it’s closer.

So she was shadowing them too.

How’d she even have access to her phone?

      Yup, he suspects that too.

      It was all pre-planned.

Of course she’s memorised that map.

She intended to be kidnapped, or rather expected to be.

Matcha red bean is an absolutely amazing combination.

Why didn’t she ask for his help anyways?

He’s absolutely prepared for that eventuality.

      He was her backup plan.

      Who’s her guest?

So _she’s_ Kawamata. And they’re the ones who made that plan.

      Everything was pre-recorded?

So I Googled the Japanese penal code and kidnapping with ransom (Article 225-2) carries a sentence of minimum 1 year in prison and 10 max.

Idk wtf Hasemi did, but damn… Osanai does not fuck around. Her little plot was so carefully planned out, I’m honestly impressed and kind of scared of her. I guess Sanae won’t need to worry about the gang for awhile…

    6. GastrointestinalLot on

Sanae-san wanted out because Osanai-san is easily as crazy as the milk carton microwaver.

    7. AmethystItalian on

Osanai is a clever one! She did feel like the more normal one of the two but she really showed off her smarts with this whole plan.

Part of me can’t help but feel that he’s scared of her though…

    8. Kobato, I know you want to confirm that Osanai orchestrated her own kidnapping, but she’s still going to treat herself to the most epic parfait of all time while you illustrate your deductive reasoning.

It’s a mighty big coincidence that Kengo was trying to investigate the sister of a friend who was involved in a drug group that ALSO had history with Osanai…and Kobato just happened to be at the same cafe Osanai directed him to go to where he met Kengo. I’m sure it’s not all interconnected or anything.

Though the Sweets Tour: Summer was completely calculated, talking Kobato all around so he could learn the area and get trained to spot the exact thing Osanai needed him to spot when she got kidnapped. She trained him good.

It seems like Osanai did plan to involve Kobato and Kengo, without warning them beforehand, but she genuinely feels bad about them getting hurt. That she didn’t plan on. But maybe ONLY that.

But she couldn’t have pulled this off all on her own and just relying on Kobato and Kengo. In fact she had an inside (wo)man in Isawa’s group who was feeding her information and helped set up the kidnapping. And that person was none other than Sanae!

Seems like Osanai and Sanae were close in middle school (or at least close enough to be on a first name basis), and Sanae is the reason Osanai got Isawa busted with her gang the first time. Of course once Sanae got on probation, Sanae went back to her with her tail between her legs, and saw the only solution for really taking her down by threatening Osanai to get involved. And thus began the process of pushing the idea that Osanai was the one who ratted Isawa out and the beginning of their plan to get Osanai kidnapped. That way Isawa goes down for kidnapping and her and her gang probably have to do some serious jail time.

But Osanai wasn’t just satisfied with that. The ransom call? That wasn’t even Isawa! It was a recording of Sanae Osanai set up to call her home phone to make them THINK she was being held for ransom, and add to Isawa’s charges. Osanai really had everything figured out and really was behind her own kidnapping.

    9. SnabDedraterEdave on

Holy shit. Osanai is an even greater psychopath than we could ever imagine.

Isawa is a juvenile criminal guilty of most of her crimes, there is no doubt.

But Osanai not only knew Isawa is out for revenge for Osanai snitching on her, Osanai decided to play along and not only let Isawa kidnap her, but she totally destroyed Isawa by planting incriminating evidence framing Isawa for blackmail and ransom as well.

Even her insider Kawamata (which explains why Osanai was able to type that cryptic text message without being caught) and even Jogoro and Kengo are but pawns in her master plan to end that gang.

Next episode is already the last episode for the season, which uses an unusually short format of 10 episodes instead of 12-13.

Fun fact: We actually saw Kawamata in the very first scene back in episode 1.

    10. I sat down, then the episode was over… For as much as this is not everyone’s cup of tea, I really do think that their ability to make, literally them talking to each other captivating is something special, especially when their main visual flare is a lot more subdued than say, an adaptation of the author’s other work, Hyouka, where we got to see Kyoani bring to life the deductions and mysteries in quite abstract ways. Here, everything, is as grounded as it can be, but, there’s just so much still going on to make it, at least for me, very compelling and continually locked into the moment. I would need to look at everything as a whole again, but man the team and the director did such a good job of really making moments like this so so good

    11. Prince-Dizzytoon on

That is a scary amount of thought just to take one person down legally, Osanai is someone you would hate to have as a enemy

    12. So this is what Kobato meant when she said Osanai was a wolf in a ship’s clothing at the beginning of the season, girl is definitely scary

    13. Yeah.. that was all a bit nuts, wasn’t it?

Is she insane? How can they remain friends after all that? Osanai even referred to Kobato as a “acquaintance” to the accomplice girl.

      Damn, feels bad man.

    14. Holy shit! The levels of planning that went into this was mind blowing! A second rewatch will be even more satisfying knowing all of this.

    15. So how many years into Osanai’s long-term plan to make Kobato her husband and/or plaything exactly on December 25, 2029 17:30:00PM are we?

That girl went from cute shy puppy-dog-eyes to making those over-the-top yanderes from death game shows look laughable in comparison, holy shit.

      [](#terror)

    16. After what Osanai went through, [she definitely deserves that massive parfait as a reward](https://i.imgur.com/r4dZizA.jpeg) for what she went through. I did have a good laugh at [seeing those two other girls struggling to finish the same parfait](https://i.imgur.com/VIdl0MN.jpeg) while Osanai finishes hers [with room to spare for tea.](https://i.imgur.com/0kdWRso.png) xD

So we finally learn that Osanai’s Sweets Selection: Summer Plan [was actually Osanai’s way of preparing for the kidnapping](https://i.imgur.com/34wSz0W.jpeg) as well as training Kobato without even realizing it so he can help her when it’s finally time to pull off the plan.

I do love that [Kobato calls out Osanai about sending such a long text](https://i.imgur.com/qKkVyUP.png) even though she’s being kidnapped. I remember someone bringing that up in last week’s discussion and it turns out, that was also part of Osanai’s plan.

[Kobato honestly got everything correctly.](https://i.imgur.com/IFlEQYO.jpeg) Well, almost everything. It turns out he’s still missing a piece of the puzzle and [that was Osanai’s insider](https://i.imgur.com/5QBJB9B.jpeg) who played the most important role in all of this.

I absolutely love how Osanai wasn’t happy with just Isawa being booked for kidnapping [and upgraded it to kidnapping for ransom](https://i.imgur.com/cHzTqv8.png) to make sure she gets put away for a long time. Meaning the real mastermind in Osanai’s kidnapping [was actually Osanai herself.](https://i.imgur.com/QevgrOg.jpeg)

[Osanai is way more unhinged than I expected!](https://i.imgur.com/Z13GMcr.jpeg) And this is just Part 1! We still have Part 2 of this arc coming next week! What will Part 2 even be about? O_O

    17. God, Osanai’s satisfied smile at the end. Absolutely zero remorse. She ransom called her own mother. Jogoro said she was a wolf, but good lord. Do not cross this girl. She will kill you. I wonder where Jogoro goes from here. Is he okay with this? Is he gonna try reining her in?

    18. I half expected an evil smile to come across Yuki’s face after he had devulged all of the info.

Yuki is psycho. Don’t cross her, or she’ll find some way to ruin your life. That’s why there’s a need for them to be ordinary.

Is this a prequel to Gone Girl?

    19. This is the SOL anime equivalent of Cartman’s Chili. Osanai you crazy as fuck and I love it.

What do you mean there’s only 10 episodes?! Better get a cour 2 confirmation ASAP. This is one of the peaks of the seasons

    20. KumaKumaGambler on

I was expecting Osanai to suddenly reveal an evil smile, while happily eating her parfait. O_o

    21. themaninthehightower on

He says it 13:08, “one more thing” — this episode is the *Colombo* moment where all the parts are laid out for the audience to discover: her clothes, the map, the desserts, and such. Osanai is the Moriarity in Sherlock Holmes’ midst.

    22. Why does it feel like I’m watching the origin story of a rivalry between a tired but brilliant detective and a ruthless but hands-off lady mob boss ?
