He has slaves, which he bought with the intention of using them as slaves. Yes he treats his slaves well, but that doesn’t excuse owning slaves. You could make a case for someone who was born in a society where that’s normal and who doesn’t understand why that’s bad (although it would still be shit behaviour from our point of view), but he wasn’t. So he knows all the reasons why slavery is rejected where he comes from, and does slavery anyway.
But you’re right, he’s much much less of a POS that the RoH MC.
