    1. Gosh, I’m way too happy to hear Rie Takahashi as Ai again… and also very awed and tearful at the painful contrast between the fantasy of Ai living / Aqua forgiving himself, and the reality of Sayahime living but Ai still very much dead (and Aqua still on vengeance path)….

Thank you so much, Akasaka-sensei, everyone on the anime staff, for making the Tokyo Blade arc one of my all-time favorite arcs!!! Y’all deserve an awesome curtain call like the one the TB actors got

    3. This may be an unfair critique of Tokyo Blade because what we know of its plot is bare bones besides the love triangle of Tsurugi-Touki-Sayahime paralleling KanAquAkane, actors like Melt seeing himself in his character, and being a battle shonen. The “Sayahime getting healed by her scabbard” bit has always been corny to me ever since I’ve read it in the manga. I’m actually glad that Tokyo Blade isn’t a real AniManga series.

Before anyone says that Tokyo Blade’s plot is merely a device used in service of the stage actors’ performances or the 2.5D arc as a whole, I’m aware. It works for OnK’s character drama. We’re not supposed to think about it that deeply. Simply put, the aforementioned direction is lame and bullshit if this was a real series that serialized in WSJ, WSM, or any other magazine.

    4. Be Takahashi Rie

Character dies in the very first episode

Comes back 19 episodes later just to voice a few lines as Ai

Creates one of the most tearjerking scenes in the show

      Refuses to elaborate

      Leaves

How on earth did Aqua keep up that kind of acting for all the performances?

Like I can almost imagine the director saying, “That was brilliant, Aqua. Now you’re going to need you to do that again for the next few nights.”

      Edit: for a MONTH!?

    6. That scabbard is fucking bullshit.

Speaking of fucking, the father did a lot of that too.

    7. >Im not here for this drunkard, Im here for you bro, you’re my long lost brother.

      >nooooooooooooooooooo~

but for my favorite scene is Akane in shock when Aqua holding her that resurrect Sayahime, too bad we didnt hear his scream. and the princess carry

    8. Ai got as much screentime as Ruby this season 😭

Also when that music started playing during the Ai scene.. man does it still hit hard

    9. ObvsThrowaway5120 on

Bro went deep in that emotional method acting. Damn dude. At least he managed to push back against his other self before he totally lost it. If only Ai could be brought back to life as easily as Akane’s character. Poor Aqua. That part got me pretty good.

Kind of amusing to me how Akane and Kana think the other is the better actress when they’re both incredible.

Guess with the play doing well, the Ai investigation can continue. I didn’t think Kindaichi was involved. Looks like he wasn’t. Seems Aqua has got a huge lead this time. Might be one step closer to discovering the dad…

    10. Just as Aqua gets a bit of emotional closure, a whole big can of worms open. The pain never stops, eh?

    11. ModieOfTheEast on

For some reason, my favourite moment of the episode was the actors getting their well earned applause afterwards. Typical for stage plays obviously, but them including it felt really good.

I find it funny to believe that Abiko appeared everytime the stage play was done, just because she liked it so much. I’d assume that not to be the case and it was just the premier and the last one, but I wouldn’t put it past her. At least as long as she finally found some assistants for her manga again.

So Himekawa is 20, so like 2-3 years older than Aqua and they have the same dad. But also he came from an orphanage. Not sure if he can say much about Aqua’s father then.

Tokyo Blade arc being this awesome is what I really wanted to see! And Doga Kobo made it!! Yehey!

And… there you have it! The big reveal that Aqua and Taiki share the same father! As expected from Oshi no Ko, this ends in a cliffhanger.

    13. Moonshadow101 on

Eager to watch it when Hidive stops screwing with me. Right now it’s not even in the list, the episodes are just 17-18-19-21-22 etc.

    14. I remember them saying last season Tokyo Blade is famous for its BL ships too. Which TB characters are shipped?

    15. God damn it… where is the episode on the website? I can’t see it… I see Episode 19 and 21 (for next week) but not 20… I hate their redesign so much. They made the site worse and I don’t need HiDive to become as shit as CR.

or is 19 today’s episode? I hate their redesign lol. It’s so bad.

    16. discuss-not-concuss on

so ‘star factor’ is basically “fake it till you make it”?

Ai definitely nailed it 15 years ago, and now Kana seems like the next best contender for ‘*Aqua factor*’

    17. Phenomenal acting by Takeo Ootsuka and the scenes with Ai were very emotional. I’m just a little bit upset that the crying scene of Aqua with Akane in his arms just became a still frame. That’s one of the best panels in the whole series.

Finally the Taiki bomb dropped in the anime too. Very cool twist.

I’m looking forward to the upcoming arc. Too many intense moments are waiting.

    18. So… Aqua’s father got another celebrity pregnant and killed? This is getting out of hand…

    19. Prince-Dizzytoon on

HIDIVE choking won’t stop me from watching Kana get “drunk” off of ginger ale. She’s always cute, even when she’s drunk or jealous of Akane

    20. I was legitimately ugly crying during the scene with Ai not dying. This show know what it’s doing and they’re doing it masterfully.

    21. Baby-Penewine on

This was one of my most anticipated moments in the manga and they delivered it pretty well! I’m excited for the upcoming arc

    22. BadBehaviour613 on

Damn, Aqua and Akane looking cute as heck descending the stairs

Kana, Kanabros, Me: It’s so over

    23. I wonder if Aqua’s just casting a big net and being extra thorough or was there something that tipped him off about Himekawa to make him get some of his DNA samples to check. Cos Himekawa definitely isn’t in the list of suspects to be Aqua’s father but he went and have him checked anyway. I also wonder if attention on the director was a red herring for the Himekawa reveal or is Aqua still suspecting him. He’s certainly still a suspect with how Ai “changed” when she was at Lalalai, in which the director was certainly there.

Also, we got to know his father may be a bigger POS than we thought cos we know he got at least two girls pregnant and leaving them both and the kids. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt with Ai but now with Himekawa, a pattern is showing.

The showbiz side is great and this show does it really well too but the mystery side is what grips me.

But I guess this is the end of this arc. Pretty amazing how we delve into the play. Tbh I was never a fan of plays and such in an anime. I’m just not interested in it but this one was pretty cool to follow.

Both Kana and Akane truly recognises each other’s ability. But also know what they themselves lack.

Really great to see the tidbits of all the characters we’ve met this season. I guess for the most part it ended well. Aqua seemed to have faced his trauma head on but there’s still work to do it seems.

Oh and another amusing thing personally. Me and my sister watch this together and are generally in touch with seiyuus. I remember when we started this without looking up the VAs, I guessed that Aqua was voiced by Uchiyama Kouki. I was wrong of course. Then we have Aqua and Himekawa conversing and I brought it up and found it amusing how they both sounded similar and talking to each other. This was right before revealing that Aqua and Himekawa are half siblings lol
