The backgrounds and settings look phenomenal, but the lip syncing is off. Also, they made the main character very anime. Her design looks out of place for a character from Middle Earth.

I’m mixed on this, feel like the art style and design look too generic that you can just slap any other fantasy name on it and it wouldn’t make a difference, someone said it looks like it could be Fire Emble anime and they aren’t wrong. It looks good, but it doesn’t make me feel like it’s “Lord of the Ring”. Also the main protagonist looks like she’s dressing up as Black Widow’s white suit, lol.
Also the JP trailer has more additional footage.

It’s hilarious that r/movies and r/anime have the opposite opinions here. Personally, I think it looks awful and feels like a cash grab but I’ll be happy to be wrong. It feels super low frame rate for a movie film. I acknowledge that there were massive technical challenges (like animation of the horses) but that doesn’t excuse making it look like a Naruto filler episode quality-wise. Plus the acting feels… bad, and not in a campy, fantasy movie way.

Very disappointed. That animation is rather rough for a theatrical release. It honestly doesn’t look any better than many seasonal shows. And the story seems very generic. I always thought it an odd choice to focus on this conflict as it has very little fantasy elements. It doesn’t help that they aren’t focusing on Helm Hammerhand, who is a hardcore badass, and instead on his canonically unnamed daughter.
