The show is absolutely a blast to watch, episode 1 sets you up to expect a comfy lighthearted adventure, before it betrays you to show you what the show is about. Watching Tokiyuki get more excited as he dances with death is fun, Yorishige's eccentric faces are amusing, some people may be put off with how they break the tension at times, but I don't mind it, Shizuku shines when Yorishige isn't around to shadow her, I hope she gets more moments like that because it helps them warm up to me, so far, Kojiro and Ayako haven't really done anything to stand out, and I hope it's not because they're being set up to be killed later, I hope they get better development before that happens. Genba claims to be motivated with money, but of what happened to his father, but I could see him get influenced by our hero. I'm also curious about the next retainer, he seems to like food.

The antagonists are also so nicely animated, it's just man vs man so far, but I love they get portrayed as ugly and demonic as their base desires posses them to kill and claim. The series is also softly playing with the supernatural, I think there is only 1 true demon that we have been shown, the boar in episode 3 also gave me Princess Mononoke flashbacks when Ashitaka encountered the boar that cursed him. I also wonder if Yorishige is the Suwa God himself or an Arahitogami (A God's descendant), if he's the latter, then Shizuku must have inherited some power too. The cinematography and animation are so good.

On Anikore, it has a 7/10 score and on Amazon, it has a 8.6/10 score. The show is also getting more and more popular overtime on Abema for instance. You love to see it. I could see this show being in the top 5 anime of the season, along with Oshi no Ko and Roshidere.

I went and checked the director, and the guy storyboarded and directed episodes from Wonder Egg Priority and My Dress-Up Darling. He also worked on Key Animation for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. He picked up a lot of experience and it shows.

The show is incredible and I hope it keeps blowing me away. Deserved because you can really feel the passion being put it in. And if you don't believe me, just watch episode 1, it's just 20 min, and from there decide if you want to keep going or not. It gave me Ranking of Kings meets Demon Slayer vibes, and I hope you enjoy it too.

    1. It’s been solid, but hard not to feel I’d like it more if it didn’t have some of the most grating comedy I’ve seen in a battle shounen.

I saw it’s first episode. I didn’t stay. Probably just me not being a great fan of the samurai era setting. The quality of the animation was super solid tho, probably one of the best animated anime this season.

    3. This would have been a good post for you to mention what the series is actually about, rather than assume I know who all these characters are

The constant brutal tone-shifting is jarring and the priest is super grating. Sorry, not for me.

    5. so far its a good show, when they switch to cgi though its very noticeable and kinda puts me off, but the fights are great and thats what matters.

    6. I watched 2 episodes but it felt too goofy for what I thought was going to be semi serious. Wrecked by my own expectations
