I *actually* waited for the good fansubs this time, so this is the first time I’m *not* watching the episode at least twice. Also sounds like they’ll be releasing consistently on Friday (just a week later than when they air) now, so that’s good. Consistency is a hell of a lot better than the random release schedule up until now.
Given that this episode’s plot has been done *many* times before, I have to consider this episode in the context of how melodramatic they made things, and it was *reasonably* melodramatic. Lows on overall character animation (and this is clearly a week where they were not putting a lot of CG in), highs on ***CRAZY EYES*** and an unintentional assist from the goofy triple-translated subtitles, which once again give just the right ambience for feeling like I’m watching somebody’s oddly-sourced anime on well-worn VHS.
The existing plot point remains that Duke’s memories are a jumble and that isn’t helped by mind-controlled people trying to confuse him.
Anyway, Ayane Sakura giving it some ham and cheese. Whee!
