Unlimited Blade Works is smartly idealistic Shirou escaping from >!morbidly cynical but cool future Shirou!< and going after the only person who is nice without being in some sort of servant contract with him (the Tsundere mage).
Heaven’s Feel is stupidly horny Shirou sacrificing >!everybody else!< to go after his childhood friend.
It’s the same events unfolding differently and the only two relevant variables between these three routes are who Shirou is going after and what he is willing to sacrifice to be with her.

Fate in and of itself isn’t that complicated, but taken in context with the rest of the Nasuverse and how it relates to it?
Well then we’ve gotta talk about Tsukihime (original and the renake), Witch on the Holy Night, DDD, Angel Notes, Kara no Kyoukai, and the various differences between their respective worlds and why they’re mostly incompatible woth each other even though *some* events of several of those still happen in some way in other worlds amd so on and so on. This is a full semester course.
