**Mildly Antagonistic Dark Assailing Officer Welcomes You To Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken Rewatch!**
*This episode is so great that I actually had to watch it again, 35 minutes before the Discussion thread for this episode will go live.*
Upon watching this episode again on my tablet I noticed that this episode had some [great usage of light](https://i.imgur.com/MvuTKSe.jpg) and thus I be adding some additional notes because I noticed only on second Rewatch of this episode how much the subtle light changes were used to express character emotions.
First goes to Baran and Dai:
* Before [Dai asked about his mother](https://i.imgur.com/8LU682K.jpg) the lightning was a bit darker, but after [Dai asked about his mother](https://i.imgur.com/2QJr4Te.jpeg) the lightning was more radiant. It was really subtle though.
* Then immediately [Baran still being in turmoil calling Dai Dino](https://i.imgur.com/N6aHrAG.jpeg) looked up as [sun shone on his face](https://i.imgur.com/7aSBZ1U.jpeg)
* It was already established that Soala was compared to the sun, and we can even see [the sun being reflected in Baran eyes](https://i.imgur.com/nJarYpY.jpeg)
* After that, Baran was finally clear of his doubts and called Dai *Dai.*
Some really great stuff that even improved my experience of this episode.
* Heck even [Hyunckel’s face](https://i.imgur.com/UdHWvLJ.jpeg) radiated with sun after Amy confessed her love and Hyunckel could show some vulnerability.
You can totally say that those two lone wolves that are the icons of masculinity were softened up by feelings of tenderness.

* Wow just wow. The whole scene between Amy and Hyunckel was great. The dialogues in that scene, together with the art, music, animation and voice acting made that scene so good, but what won me over was a short shot of Hyunckel from Amy POV, that showed us that [she cried through blurring the screen for a second, which was really great creative decision.](https://i.imgur.com/kFmVSqv.png)
* This has to be my favourite episode of Dai no Daibouken for Amy and Hyunckel scene alone. I have goosebumps.

Seeing the opening again, I think I prefer the first one. Visually they’re both so-so, and the new song is just utterly boring.
I increasingly believe Baran really destroyed that healing spring along with Sola’s kingdom island.
Exactly, if the dragon knights can’t slay Vearn then the whole resistance is pointless anyway. They’re the only characters that matter, and it’s why the power scaling in this show is utterly bonkers and dysfunctionally insane. It corrodes any of the war narrative this show is attempting to have: Dark King Vearn means to slaughter all of us? Eh, no need to bother, if the heroes can’t defeat him then there’s nothing we can do anything. The story is completely ludicrous and poorly laid out.
Did they really justify Popp leering at Maam by having Gomechan hide on her?
